Decorated with maps, plans of the cities and print illustrations, Contemporary History, or Present State of All Nations, 1758, between p. 376 and p. 377., church (exterior), Utrecht, Catharijnekerk, A detailed ink engraving shows a large church with tall arched windows and a steep roof, its facade featuring decorative scrolls and a small round window near the gable, adjacent to smaller buildings; a tower with a domed top and a weather vane rises behind the church. In front of the church a formation of uniformed figures stands in rows while other people walk or converse nearby, some accompanied by small dogs. A line of tall leafy trees fills the right side of the scene, with trunks, branches, and dense foliage rendered in fine hatchwork, and a few lamp posts and benches visible among them. The sky above is filled with lined shading and cloud shapes, and the foreground shows a paved area with scattered individuals and subtle textural detailing.
