At the top a bearded man faces forward, wearing a collared garment and holding a round object between his fingers, with drapery and a pinned backdrop behind him. Below him and to the left an oval-framed bust of a man with a styled beard and mustache wears a ruffled collar and a buttoned garment, turned slightly to the side. To the right a near-profile bust of another man with curled hair and a pronounced ruff collar looks outward from a torn paper-like surround, beneath which a rolled scroll rests on a surface beside drawing instruments. The background features crosshatched shading and draped fabric.
