This series comprises virtually the artist's complete oeuvre and consists of 48 prints, mainly designs for ceilings., the dream of Jacob: while sleeping on the ground with a stone for pillow Jacob sees a ladder reaching from earth to heaven with angels going up and down, usually with God at the top of the ladder, A detailed ink drawing shows a scene of winged figures and cherubic faces among swirling clouds above a rocky landscape with a leafy tree at one side; several angels with large feathered wings appear in various poses, some reaching upward and others reclining, with curly hair and flowing drapery, while small putti-like faces peek from the clouds and a radiating burst emerges amid the cloud forms.
