At the base of the rock is a low stone wall or pile of stones forming a rough shelter area. Five people wearing heavy cloaks and traditional-looking garments stand and sit near the stone wall; some hold long staffs or walking sticks and one appears seated among the stones. The ground in the foreground is uneven and strewn with rocks and small boulders. The overall image has a monochrome, sepia-toned appearance.
