Along the opposite shore there are low buildings, a decorative arched gateway, trees with varying heights and foliage, and a narrow pier or dock where boats are moored. Reflections of the boats and people ripple on the water surface and a long pole extends from one vessel into the foreground. The overall image has a faded, aged appearance with soft contrasts and visible paper border.
