The foreground shows a broad paved roadway with horse-drawn carriages and riders moving toward and away from the viewer, and decorative lamp posts mounted on pedestals near the center. People in period clothing walk along the sidewalks and stand near the trees and carriageways, while smaller carts and additional horses are visible along the sides of the avenue. Trees form shaded rows along the median and sidewalks, and architectural details such as balconies, domed rooflines, and stone facades appear on the buildings.
