Large overhanging tree branches frame the top of the image while a massive tree trunk and its exposed roots occupy the right foreground. In the near foreground a paved area with low stone barriers and worn steps slopes toward the pool, and a narrow plank lies across the edge of the water. The overall image shows dappled light and shadow across the ground, water surface, and building façades.
