Around her on the floor and on the bench there are many pigeons and small birds, some perched and some walking, and one bird is perched on her shoulder. To the left of the woman a large stone hearth or ledge holds a tall pitcher and other vessels, and a hanging ladle is visible on the side. Above the scene an elaborately carved wooden beam with decorative motifs runs across the top, and a bundle of straw or a tassel hangs from the right side of the beam. In the foreground near the woman's feet there are additional jugs and a small ornate footstool, while scattered stones and worn tiles form the floor. The image is bordered by a wide light margin.
