In the foreground a dense crowd lines the cobbled street, with many individuals holding umbrellas and wearing dark coats and wide-brimmed hats. Behind the crowd rows of multistory buildings with varied façades rise along the square, including a building with two tall spires and an arched entrance and other structures with decorative rooflines and awnings. Flags and banners hang from poles and rooftops above the scene, and mature trees frame parts of the square. The photograph is bordered by a printed mat.
