In the foreground there is a wooden wagon wheel and cart frame on a patch of grass, and three uniformed men standing on the dirt street near the center, two standing together and one slightly apart. To the left a two-story porch building is visible with an open storefront beneath the upper balcony. A horse hitched to a small cart stands near the middle background, and a few seated and standing figures are near the building entrances. The scene is framed by bare tree branches stretching across the top portion of the image.
