Two labourers, sketchbook page, Two men are standing on uneven terrain outdoors. The man on the left is wearing a knee-length loincloth (veshti, lungi), folded in half, tied around the waist, and fastened at the waist. From the shoulders, the long ends of a draped cloth (chadar) of checkered fabric hang down. A cloth is tied around the head; the short hair is still visible. The man on the right is also wearing a loincloth (veshti, lungi) reaching above the knees, wrapped with one end passed between the legs to the back, then tucked in and folded at the waist (like a dhoti). A loose checkered or striped cloth (chadar) is draped around the head of short hair, hanging down the back, one end tucked under the left arm. The men are from South India or Jaffna and are employed in Colombo in the reconstruction effort.
