Beggar in a cart pulled by another man, Handicapped beggar in a cart and his mate (former title), sketchbook page, On the left, a four-wheeled wooden cart stands on a sloping road, in which a person sits with knees drawn up, dressed in a long shirt with long sleeves and a loincloth (veshti, lungi). The outstretched right hand holds a small bowl: a begging bowl. On the right stands a man pulling the cart with a rope attached to a pulley in his right hand. He wears only a knee-length, rolled-up loincloth (veshti, lungi). His hair is parted in the middle and probably tied back tightly; he has a moustache and a short beard. The cart is simple and consists of a slatted base, a slatted backrest, and sticks as side supports. Beneath this are two axles, each with two wooden wheels fixed with iron pins. A checkered cloth lies over the armrest and on the base. At the front is a rope with which the cart is pulled. To the right, a standing barefoot figure with a beard and short hair is drawn in a three-quarter view, wearing a draped cloth around the waist and holding a thin rope or cord that connects to the cart. The ground is lightly shaded with irregular marks, and the background is mostly blank paper with subtle speckles and faint smudges.
