The horse's head is turned to the side with its mane flowing, and its front legs are lifted. Several men surround them; two men in brimmed hats stand on the right, one holding the horse's bridle while the other grasps his companion, and two armed men on the left aim long firearms toward the left edge of the scene. Trees and foliage form a backdrop above the group, and the ground beneath them is lightly sketched with textured lines. The image is framed by a simple rectangular border.
