In front of the building a paved forecourt displays small groups of people in period dress walking and conversing, some on foot and some on horseback, and a horse-drawn enclosed carriage stands at one side. The scene includes low boundary walls and gate structures at the sides, a distant line of trees beyond the walls, and a sky filled with etched clouds and three ornamental cartouches near the top edge. The engraving uses fine line work and hatching to render shadows, textures, and architectural details.
