Together with four other series, it forms the large series: 'Il nuovo teatro di Roma moderna'., harbour, city-view, and landscape with man-made constructions, Civitavecchia, A detailed monochrome engraving shows a waterfront scene with a large rectangular building featuring rows of arched openings and decorative rooftop finials, positioned on a quay. Several sailboats and rowed vessels of different sizes float in the water around the building, some with visible masts and oars, and small figures aboard. To the right a massive round tower with battlements rises from the water’s edge, topped by a flag and sculptural ornamentation, with architectural detailing on its shafts and a small quay area with people. In the left distance a hillside town with clustered buildings and a small tower or steeple sits behind a fortified wall. The sky above is filled with cloud forms and engraved rays of light. The foreground shows rippled water texture and the shore edges with tiny walking figure
