Livonian half-mark (half-fine), Sigismund II Augustus (king of Poland; 1544–1572) (interregnum). Issued under Jan Hieronimowicz Chodkiewicz (ca.1537–1579), administrator of Livonia; publishers Walentyn Iberfeld and Jakub Hincza (fl.1572–1573). Silver coin (HALB/MARCK). Obverse: below the inscription HALB/MARCK two escutcheons with the Eagle and Pogon; below the year: .1573; rim inscription: .MONE.NOVA.ARGENTEA. Reverse: a griffin with a raised sword turned to the left, separating the rim inscription: .-DVCATVS.LIVONIAE. 1573. Features coats of arms (Gryf z mieczem), gryphons, Jagiellon dynasty motifs, inscriptions and escutcheons.
