Sestertius of Commodus (161–192; Roman emperor 177–192). Obverse: Head of Commodus in a laurel wreath to the right, inscription 'M COMMODVS ANT - P X AVG BRIT'. Reverse: Emperor in a toga sitting on a curule chair to the left, holding a globe in his right hand and a scroll in his left; behind his head flies Victoria with a wreath, inscriptions 'PM' and 'IN SC' in fields. Iconography: Roman deities (Victoria), globes, scrolls, curule chair. Roman Empire (27 BC–476), Rome. Coin: diameter 27.5–30.0 mm, weight 23.15 g, axis 180 degrees.
