Denarius, Marcus Aurelius (121–180; Roman emperor 161–180), issued during reign of Antoninus Pius (86–161; Roman emperor 138–161), ca. 155–156. Obverse: head of young Marcus Aurelius without a cap to the right, inscription 'AVRELIVS CAES, VG PII F'. Reverse: Virtus stands left, holding a parazonium (parade dagger) in his right hand and a spear with the head downwards in his left; inscription 'P•OT X•CO' (all around). Roman Empire, Rome. Coin; diameter 16.0–16.5 mm, weight 2.78 g, axis 180°.
