Denarius, Antoninus Pius (86–161; Roman emperor 138–161). Obverse: head of the emperor in a laurel wreath facing right, legend ANTONINVS AVG PIVS PP. Reverse: Annona stands to the right with one leg on the prow of a ship; in her right hand a long rudder resting on a globe, in her left a container with ears of grain (modius); inscription POT X O circumferential. Iconography: Annona, modius, personifications, ships, rudders. Date: 156–158. Culture/place: Roman Empire, Rome. Medium/function: coin (denarius). Measurements: diameter 15.0–16.0 mm, weight 1.85 g, axis 180 degrees.
