Denarius (forgery) of Antoninus Pius (86–161; Roman emperor 138–161). Obverse: Head of Antoninus Pius with a laurel wreath facing right, inscription ANTONINVS·AVG·PIVS·PP. Reverse: The emperor in a toga and veil stands left; in his right hand he holds a patera above a tripod, behind which lies a bull; in his left hand he holds a scroll, inscription VOTA·SOL·DEC·II. Iconography: emperor with a veil on his head; pateras, tripods, bulls, veils, scrolls. Date (original): c. 157–159. Culture/place (original): Roman Empire, Rome. Coin; diameter ca. 17.0–17.5 mm; weight 2.90 g; axis 15°.
