Gdansk ducat, Lesse, Daniel (1656–1685); John II Casimir Vasa (King of Poland; reign 1648–1668). Obverse: crowned right-profile bust of the king, wearing the Order of the Golden Fleece on the chest, within a rope rim inscribed 'IOAN.CAS.DGREX. POL.& SUEC.MD'. Reverse: Gdansk coat of arms held by two lions; at the top a wreath surrounding a flower, at the bottom a cartouche dividing the letters 'DL'; in a corded rim inscribed 'MON:AUREA CIVITAT.GEDANEN.1657'. 1657. Poland, Gdansk. Coin; weight 3.49 g., A round, metallic coin with a golden color showing decorative raised designs and textured wear; the coin features a central shield-like emblem flanked by two stylized animals with manes facing each other, ornate floral and rope-like motifs above and below the shield, and a raised rim with repeating decorative edging; the surface shows areas of darker and lighter gold tones and subtle scratches and indentations.
