Bracteate, 1135–1138, Poland (Gniezno, Kraków). In a pearl border, on the left side facing right, a kneeling prince shown in profile with hands outstretched toward a standing bishop. The bishop, identified as St. Adalbert, wears liturgical vestments, holds a crosier in his left hand and rests his right hand on the prince’s head (gesture of protection). Inscription around the rim in a linear border: EBLDAVOIBEZLA. Romanesque style. Coin (bracteate), diameter 24.3–26.9 mm, weight 0.53 g. Makers/subjects: Boleslaw III Wrymouth (Prince of Poland, 1086–1138); Adalbert (Saint, ca. 956–997).
