Denarius, Boleslaw III Krzywousty (prince of Poland; 1107–1138). Romanesque style, ca. 1125–1138, Poland, Kraków. Coin (diameter 11.9–12.2 mm, weight 0.50 g). Obverse: in beaded border, a knight in chain mail thrusting a spearhead into the jaws of an upside-down dragon; motifs: knight, chain mail, spear/spearhead, dragon, mouths, fight between good and evil, fight against pagans, Adalbert (Saint) and martyrs, dragons, knights. Reverse: in triple beaded border, an equal-armed (isosceles) cross topped with balls; between its arms, two quarters with two balls each (smaller ones nearer the center, larger ones each with a dot), and two quarters with one ball each.
