Denarius, Boleslaw III Krzywousty (prince of Poland; 1107–1138). Obverse: within a beaded border, a knight in chain mail thrusting a spearhead into the jaws of an upside-down dragon; under the knight's right elbow, an isosceles cross topped with balls (one with a dot). Reverse: within a triple beaded border, an isosceles cross topped with balls; at the intersection of the arms a ball, with two radiating balls between the arms (smaller ones nearer the center, a larger one farther out). Iconography: spearhead (issue mark), equal-armed cross, chainmail, crosses, knights, dragons, martyrs, fight between good and evil, fight against pagans, Adalbert (St.; ca. 956–997). Romanesque style. Date: ca. 1125–1138. Place: Poland, Kraków. Medium: coin. Diameter: 11.9–12.2 mm. Weight: 0.40 g.
