Denarius, Boleslaw III Krzywousty (prince of Poland; 1086–1138), Romanesque, ca. 1125–1138, Kraków, Poland. Obverse: in beaded border, a knight in chain mail thrusting a spearhead into the jaws of an upside-down dragon; a sun under the knight's right elbow. Reverse: in triple beaded border, an isosceles cross topped with balls; at the intersection of the arms a ball; three arms show one dot each, the fourth is blurred. Iconography: knight, dragon, spear, chain mail, equal-armed cross, mouths, crosses, martyrs, fight of good against evil, fight against pagans, Adalbert (Saint; ca. 956–997). Coin; diameter 12.3–12.6 mm; weight 0.41 g.
