Caption
Denarius, Boleslaw III Krzywousty (prince of Poland; ca. 1107–1138). Obverse: in a beaded border, a knight in chain mail thrusting a spearhead into the jaws of an upside-down dragon; at the knight's left foot, a figure resembling the number '7' angled toward the foot with its vertices marked by dots. Reverse: in a triple beaded border, an isosceles cross topped with balls (two of them with one dot each); at the intersection of the arms a dot; between the arms of the cross a dot nearer the center and a sun nearer the ends. Romanesque style; theme of saints/knights fighting pagans (St. Adalbert). Spearhead (issue mark), chain mail, crosses, jaws, dragons. Date: ca. 1125–1138. Poland, Kraków. Coin; diameter 12.1–12.4 mm; weight 0.39 g. Made/attributed to Boleslaw III Krzywousty; Jastrzebowski, Stanislaw (1898–1980) noted.
