Denarius, Boleslaw III Krzywousty (prince of Poland; 1107–1138). Obverse (in beaded border): a knight in chain mail thrusting a spearhead into the jaws of an upside-down dragon; under the knight's right elbow, an isosceles cross topped with balls (one dot on each). Reverse (in triple beaded border): an isosceles cross topped with balls; a ball at the intersection of the arms and a single ball between the central ball and a crossbar at the end of one arm; one arm intersects the other at approximately 1/3 of its length. Romanesque style; themes: knights, dragons, fight between good and evil, martyrs, Adalbert (Saint). Spearhead (issue mark). Date: c. 1125–1138. Place: Kraków, Poland. Coin; diameter 11.8–12.2 mm; weight 0.33 g.
