Denarius, Boleslaw III Krzywousty (prince of Poland; 1107–1138). Romanesque coin, ca. 1125–1138, Poland, Kraków. Obverse: in the beaded border, a knight in chain mail thrusting a spearhead into the jaws of an upside-down dragon (iconography: knight, chain mail, spearhead, jaws, dragon, fight between good and evil, fight against pagans, martyrs, Adalbert). Reverse: in the triple beaded border, an isosceles (equal-armed) cross topped with balls; between its arms, in two quarters one ball each, in the other two quarters radiating two balls (smaller ones closer to the center, larger ones farther). Diameter 11.9–12.2 mm; weight 0.32 g.
