Denarius, Boleslaw III Krzywousty (prince of Poland; 1086–1138). Obverse: in a beaded border, a knight in chain mail thrusting a spearhead into the jaws of a dragon turned upside down. Reverse: in a triple beaded border, an isosceles cross topped with balls; at the intersection of the arms a ball; between the arms one ball (two of them have one dot); one arm intersects the other at approximately 1/3 of its length. Allegorical and iconographic elements: spearhead (issue mark), equal-armed cross, crosses, jaws, chain mail, martyrs, knight, Romanesque style, knights, dragon, dragons, Middle Ages, fight between good and evil, fight against pagans, spear, Adalbert (Saint; ca. 956–997).
