Denarius of Boleslaw III Krzywousty (prince of Poland; ca. 1125–1138). Obverse: in the beaded border, a knight in chain mail thrusting a spearhead into the jaws of an inverted dragon; a sun beneath the knight’s right elbow. Reverse: in the triple beaded border, an isosceles cross topped with suns; between its arms, two quarters each radiating two spheres (smaller ones closer to the center, larger ones farther), the other two quarters with one sphere each. Romanesque style; imagery includes allegories, knights, martyrs, fight between good and evil, dragon, spear (issue mark), chain mail. Inscription/identification: Boleslaw III Krzywousty (prince of Poland; 1086–1138). Date: ca. 1125–1138. Place: Poland, Kraków. Object: coin (denarius). Diameter: 12.1–12.7 mm. Weight: 0.38 g.
