Denarius of Boleslaw III Krzywousty (prince of Poland; ca. 1125–1138). Obverse: within a beaded border, a knight in chain mail thrusting a spearhead into the jaws of an upside-down dragon; a ball under the knight's right elbow. Reverse: within a triple beaded border, an isosceles cross topped with balls (two of them with one dot each); a ball at the intersection of the arms and one ball between each arm (each with one dot). Romanesque style; themes: knights, dragons, fight between good and evil, fight against pagans, martyrs (St. Adalbert referenced). Coin; Poland, Kraków; diameter 12.2 mm; weight 0.28 g.
