Denarius, Boleslaw III Krzywousty (prince of Poland; 1107–1138), ca. 1125–1138. Obverse: in beaded border, a knight in chain mail thrusting a spearhead into the jaws of an upside-down dragon; at the knight's left foot a figure resembling the number '7' with vertices marked by dots. Reverse: in triple beaded border, an isosceles cross topped with spheres; between its arms radiate two spheres (smaller ones closer to the center, larger ones farther). Romanesque style; allegorical Christian imagery (fight between good and evil, fight against pagans, St. Adalbert). Minted in Kraków, Poland. Coin; silver denarius; diameters 12.3–12.9 mm; weight 0.47 g.
