Denarius of Boleslaw III Krzywousty (prince of Poland; ca. 1086–1138), ca. 1125–1138. Obverse: in a beaded border, a knight in chain mail thrusting a spearhead into the upside-down jaws of a dragon. Reverse: in a triple beaded border, an isosceles cross topped with balls (one ball has a dot; others may show due to under-striking), with a ball between its arms. Iconography: knight, chain mail, spear/spearhead, dragon, jaws, equal-armed cross, fight between good and evil, martyrs; Romanesque style. Mint: Kraków, Poland. Coin; silver denarius; diameters 12.1–12.5 mm; weight 0.35 g.
