Denarius, Boleslaw III Krzywousty (prince of Poland; r. 1107–1138). Obverse: within a linear border, a knight in chain mail thrusting a spearhead into the jaws of an upside-down dragon; above the knight's left foot, on its outer side, a dot. Reverse: within a triple beaded border, an isosceles cross topped with balls; between its arms, one ball (two of them have one dot); one arm intersects the other at approximately 1/3 of its length. Iconography: knight, dragon, spears, martyrs, fight against pagans, fight between good and evil; Romanesque style; references to Adalbert (Saint; ca. 956–997). Date: c. 1125–1138. Place: Kraków, Poland. Coin (denarius). Diameter: 12.2–12.4 mm. Weight: 0.50 g.
