Denarius of Boleslaw III Krzywousty (prince of Poland, c. 1086–1138), c. 1125–1138. Obverse: within a linear border, a knight in chain mail thrusting a spearhead into the jaws of an upside-down dragon; a dot beside the knight's left foot. Reverse: within a triple beaded border, an isosceles cross topped with balls; between its arms are balls (two showing a dot); one arm intersects the other at approximately one-third of its length. Iconography: spearhead (issue mark), equal-armed cross, chain mail, knight, dragon, martyrs, fight between good and evil, fight against pagans, Saint Adalbert referenced. Romanesque style. Coin (Poland, Kraków), diameter approx. 12.2–12.4 mm, weight 0.50 g.
