Denarius of Boleslaw III Krzywousty (prince of Poland; 1086–1138). Obverse: in beaded border, a knight in chain mail thrusting a spearhead into the jaws of an upside-down dragon; iconography includes knight, chain mail, spearhead, dragon, jaws, fight against pagans, fight between good and evil, martyrs, Adalbert. Reverse: in triple beaded border, an isosceles cross topped with spheres (one with a dot); at the intersection a sphere; between the arms three spheres (one with a dot). Romanesque style; ca. 1125–1138; Poland, Kraków. Coin; diameter 11.9–12.1 mm; weight 0.43 g.
