Denarius of Boleslaw III Krzywousty (prince of Poland; 1107–1138). Obverse: in the beaded border, a knight in chain mail thrusting a spearhead into the jaws of a dragon turned upside down. Reverse: in the triple beaded border, an equal-armed (isosceles) cross topped with balls; at the intersection of the arms, a ball; one ball between the arms. Allegorical imagery: knights, dragon(s), fight between good and evil, fight against pagans; references to martyrs and Saint Adalbert. Romanesque style. Issue mark: spearhead. Date: ca. 1125–1138. Place: Poland, Kraków. Coin (denarius). Diameter: 12.8–13.2 mm. Weight: 0.28 g.
