Denarius, Boleslaw III Krzywousty (prince of Poland; 1086–1138). Obverse: in a beaded border, a knight in chain mail thrusting a spearhead into the jaws of an upside-down dragon. Reverse: in a triple beaded border, an isosceles cross topped with spheres (two with one dot each); between its arms, one quarter with two radiating spheres (one smaller near the center, one larger) and the three remaining quarters with one sphere each. Iconography: spearhead, chain mail, crosses, jaws, dragon, knight, martyrs, Adalbert (Saint; ca. 956–997), spears, fight between good and evil; Romanesque style; fight against pagans. Date ca. 1125–1138; Poland, Kraków. Coin (denarius). Diameter 12.7–13.5 mm; weight 0.61 g.
