Denarius, Boleslaw III Krzywousty (prince of Poland; 1086–1138). Obverse: in the beaded border, a knight in chain mail thrusting a spearhead into the jaws of an upside-down dragon. Reverse: in the triple beaded border, an isosceles cross topped with balls; between its arms, in two quarters two balls radiating (smaller ones closer to the center, larger ones farther out), in the other two quarters one ball each. Iconography: spearhead, chain mail, equal-armed cross, dragons, knights, mouths, martyrs, fight between good and evil, Adalbert (Saint; ca. 956–997), fight against pagans. Romanesque style. Date: ca. 1125–1138. Place: Poland, Kraków. Coin; diameter 12.1–12.5 mm; weight 0.53 g.
