Denarius of Boleslaw III Krzywousty (prince of Poland; 1086–1138). Obverse: in the beaded border, a knight in chain mail thrusting a spearhead into the jaws of an upside-down dragon. Reverse: in the triple beaded border, an isosceles cross topped with balls; between its arms, one ball (one with a dot). Allegorical imagery: knights, martyrs, dragons, fight between good and evil, fight against pagans; possible reference to Saint Adalbert (ca. 956–997). Romanesque style. Issue mark: spearhead. Date: ca. 1125–1138. Place: Kraków, Poland. Coin; diameter 12.4–12.9 mm; weight 0.32 g.
