denarius, Boleslaw III Krzywousty (prince of Poland; 1086–1138), Romanesque style, ca. 1125–1138, Poland, Kraków; coin; diameter 12.7–13.0 mm; weight 0.38 g. Obverse: in the beaded border, a knight in chain mail thrusting a spearhead into the jaws of an upside-down dragon. Reverse: in the triple beaded border, an isosceles cross topped with spheres (one with a dot); between its arms, one sphere (two with a dot). Iconography: equal-armed cross, spearhead, spears, crosses, chain mail, jaws, knight, dragon, fight between good and evil, fight against pagans, martyrs, Adalbert (Saint; ca. 956–997).
