Denarius, Boleslaw III Krzywousty (prince of Poland; 1086–1138). Obverse: in the beaded border, a knight in chain mail thrusting a spearhead into the jaws of an upside-down dragon. Reverse: in the triple beaded border, an isosceles cross topped with balls; at the intersection of the arms, a ball with a dot; between the arms, one ball (one with a dot). Iconography: chain mail, spearhead (issue mark), equal-armed cross, crosses, jaws, knight, martyrs, dragons, Romanesque style, Middle Ages, fight between good and evil, fight against pagans, spears; depiction related to Saint Adalbert (ca. 956–997).
