Denarius of Boleslaw III Krzywousty (prince of Poland; 1107–1138). Obverse: in a beaded border, a knight in chain mail thrusting a spearhead into the jaws of an upside-down dragon. Reverse: in a triple beaded border, an equal-armed (isosceles) cross topped with balls; at the intersection of the arms, a ball; one ball between the arms. Romanesque style; allegorical imagery (knight vs. dragon, fight between good and evil, martyrs, fight against pagans). Reference to Adalbert (Saint; ca. 956–997). Date ca. 1125–1138. Poland, Kraków. Coin; diameter 12.1–12.3 mm; weight 0.34 g.
