Denarius, Boleslaw III Krzywousty (prince of Poland; 1086–1138). Romanesque coin, ca. 1125–1138, Poland, Kraków. Obverse: within a beaded border, a knight in chain mail thrusting a spearhead into the jaws of an upside-down dragon. Reverse: within a triple beaded border, an isosceles cross topped with balls; at the intersection of the arms a ball; between the arms three balls; one arm intersects the other at approximately one-third of its length. Iconography: chainmail, spearhead, equal-armed cross, crosses, jaws, knight, dragons, martyrs, Adalbert (Saint; ca. 956–997), fight between good and evil, fight against pagans. Coin type: coin; diameter 11.4–11.6 mm; weight 0.35 g.
