Denarius of Boleslaw III Krzywousty (prince of Poland; ca. 1086–1138). Obverse: within a linear border, a knight in chain mail thrusting a spearhead into the jaws of an upside-down dragon; a dot is placed outside above the knight's left foot. Reverse: within a triple beaded border, an isosceles cross topped with balls; between its arms are balls (three of them with one dot). Iconography includes knight, chain mail, spear/spearhead, dragon, jaws, equal-armed cross, martyrs, fight against pagans/fight between good and evil; Romanesque style; associated with Saint Adalbert. Date: ca. 1125–1138. Place: Poland, Kraków. Coin (denarius). Diameter: 12.3–12.8 mm. Weight: 0.50 g.
