Denarius, Boleslaw III Krzywousty (prince of Poland; 1086–1138). Obverse: in the linear border, a knight in chain mail thrusting a spearhead into the jaws of an upside-down dragon. Reverse: in the triple beaded border, an isosceles cross topped with balls; at the intersection of the arms, a ball; between the arms, one ball. Allegorical imagery referencing Adalbert (St.; ca. 956–997), martyrs, fight against pagans, and the struggle between good and evil. Romanesque style. Issue mark: spearhead. Date ca. 1125–1138. Poland, Kraków. Coin; diameter 12.3–12.6 mm; weight 0.41 g.
