Denarius of Boleslaw III Krzywousty (prince of Poland; ca. 1086–1138). Obverse: within a beaded border, a knight in chain mail thrusting a spearhead into the jaws of an upside-down dragon; depiction references Adalbert and martyrs, fight between good and evil, fight against pagans. Reverse: within a triple beaded border, an isosceles cross topped with spheres (one with a dot); between its arms radiate two spheres (smaller ones near the center, larger ones farther out). Romanesque style; spears, crosses, knights, chain mail. Struck ca. 1125–1138, Poland (Kraków). Coin (denarius), diameter 12.3–13.1 mm, weight 0.62 g.
