Denarius of Boleslaw III Krzywousty (prince of Poland; ca. 1086–1138). Obverse: within a linear border, a knight in chain mail thrusting a spearhead into the jaws of an upside-down dragon. Reverse: within a triple beaded border, an isosceles cross topped with spheres (one with a dot); between its arms are spheres (two with dots). Allegorical/romanesque imagery referencing knights, martyrs, Adalbert (Saint; ca. 956–997), fight between good and evil and against pagans. Date: ca. 1125–1138. Material/object: coin (denarius). Dimensions: diameter 12.2–12.8 mm; weight 0.43 g.
