Denarius of Boleslaw III Krzywousty (Prince of Poland; 1107–1138). Obverse: in a beaded border, a knight in chain mail thrusting a spearhead into the jaws of an upside-down dragon — allegory of fight between good and evil / fight against pagans; imagery includes spear(s), chain mail, knight, dragon, jaws, martyrs, Romanesque style. Reverse: in a triple beaded border, an isosceles cross topped with balls; at the intersection of the arms a ball; between the arms three quarters show one ball (one with a dot), the fourth quarter shows a dot; one arm intersects the other at approx. 1/3 of its length. Inscription/marks: spearhead (issue mark), crosses. Date: ca. 1125–1138. Place: Poland, Kraków. Coin; diameter 12.2–12.7 mm; weight 0.39 g.
