Denarius, Boleslaw III Krzywousty (prince of Poland; 1086–1138). Av.: In the linear border, a knight in chain mail thrusting a spearhead into the jaws of an upside-down dragon. Rv.: In the triple beaded border, an isosceles cross topped with spheres (one with a dot); at the intersection of the arms, a sphere; between the arms, a single sun. Allegorical Romanesque imagery referencing Adalbert (St.; ca. 956–997), martyrs, knights, dragons, the fight against pagans and the struggle between good and evil. ca. 1125–1138. Poland, Kraków. Coin (denarius). Diameter 11.6–11.9 mm; weight 0.53 g.
